shilhouette pendants

i have to admit, silhouette is one of those words i always have to double check to make sure i'm spelling it correctly.

cousin kevin's wife, kristen (does that make her my cousin by marriage?) sent me the link to these custom silhouette pendants. i want a small one on a bracelet.

ollie's independence day:

he woke up, watched a little sesame street, and then took a long nap.

he went to a bbq, visited with everyone and he had a swim:
Ollie and Mama

he ate a wasabi pea (and seemed to enjoy it).

he ate a popsicle and cried when it was gone.

a nun took his pacifier, dipped it into her gin and tonic and told him, "you have to try this!"

he pooped.

he fell asleep. (he slept through fireworks that sounded like explosions.)

big day for a little guy.

clothing optional

there's a house across the street that always has the shades drawn. and we seldom see anyone coming and going.

imagine our surprise when we drove up to our house last saturday afternoon and noticed a man sweeping the walkway in his tighty whities. and nothing else.

then on sunday my folks came up and watched olls so we could go grab a bite to eat. when we got home the same man was sweeping the same area of sidewalk. this time he was wearing tighty whities and a t shirt.

it was warm in san francisco (and even the sunset) this past weekend, however, it wasn't hang out in your front yard in your underwear warm. at least we don't do that in around house unless it's at least in the nineties.

today he was sweeping the same area of the sidewalk, however, he was wearing pants and a shirt.

also today when i was driving home, i was stopped at stop light and i glanced to my right and noticed the man next to me was not wearing a shirt. and i was thinking that whatever, maybe he was driving up from some place like san jose, where it was super hot and maybe he had to take his shirt off. but then he held up a pair of pants, which leads me to believe that the man next to me was driving around with out any pants on, too.

whatever, i'm cool with clothing optional clothing policies. there's just been a lot of it going on this week.

it's summer in the sunset.

Summer in the Sunset

yep, indeed.

will i shut up about jewelry already?

i know, i know. it's probably getting old, however, i've been obsessed with mixed metals lately. it all started when i finally bought the ring from sundance that i'd been coveting for over 2 years.

and then yesterday at work i met with this woman who had a bunch of small mixed metal rings.

i love, love, love these rings from meetalls:

parks

this whole going to the park as a mom thing is kinda weird. it's like there's this whole park world i never even new existed.

last week there was a dad who was talking to a YOUNG babysitter for a loooooooooongggg time.

there was also the nanny in her hat, scarf and sunglasses, slinging her venti iced startbucks thing and totally ignoring the little burden she was in charge of.

the other day ollie and i were at the playground. first we went on the swings. then i put him in the sand. then we walked around.

a mother/nanny came up to me and asked me how old he was. i told her. then she looks down at his bare feet and goes, "doesn't that hurt his feet?" and i said no, i think it's okay. and i don't think she was trying to be bitchy. i think she was a little lonely.

so then she asks me what his name is. and i tell her, "oliver." and another mom walks up and goes, "MY SON'S NAME IS OLIVER!" and i was all, "no way!" and then i asked her what her son's middle name was and she goes, "max." and then i got all exited and said, "OLLIE'S MIDDLE NAME IS MAXIMILLIAN!" and she said, "my husband's name is max and i call him maximillian!" she was really sweet. and her oliver was super cute.

another thing i noticed at the park -- ollie doesn't seem like a baby anymore:

cheese + pickle + avocado + lettuce + pickle + whole wheat roll + mustard = delicious.

9 out of 10 times this is the sandwich i ordered while i was pregnant. it's still one of my very favorite sandwiches:
